Kidd Jordan returns with his unique brand of fire blues free jazz. When you hear Kidd’s staccato phrases circling Harrison Bankhead’s skewed bowing in the opening of the 25 plus minute first track 'Speaking in Tongues' you know everybody, including the listener, is gonna get pushed around. Sandwiched between the two extended pieces that open and close the record is the Jordan/Bankhead duet 'Waves of Birds', a tightly knit and undulating saxophone/cello flyover. On Fire Volume 2 wraps with the tender 'Coming Down Blue' as the rapid fire bursts make way for the mournful wailing sound of three under-recognized free jazz veterans keepin’ on down the road.
